2021 Chevy Trailblazer
Just as Buick introduced the Repetition GX, its latest in-between compact crossover, Chevy is doing the same with the 2021 Chevy Trailblazer. It fits right between the Chevy Trax and the Equinox, and like with Buick and the normal Repetition, the Trax will continue to be on sale together with the Pioneer.
Surprisingly, the Trailblazer statement comes right on the heels of Buick debuting the new Encore GX– a compact crossover positioned in between the subcompact Encore and midsize Envision. Considering Buick was likewise mum about item specifications– and thinking about the two SUVs interiors have a lot in common– it’s safe to assume these products are carefully associated.
The Trailblazer name definitely isn’t anything new. Chevy offered it as a trim level on the US-spec Blazer SUV in the late 1990s and early 2000s and replaced it with the body-on-frame Trailblazer SUV from 2001 to 2008. More recently, the Trailblazer name has been used on an SUV sold outside the United States.
2021 Chevy Trailblazer Design
From the looks of it, it’s comparable to the Trailblazer that made its launching at the Shanghai Auto Show. It’s quite an infant Blazer in design with sharp angles, a big grille, and upset, squinting headlights. The greenhouse is a little taller and boxier than the big Blazer, though. It also has an available two-tone roofing system on the RS trim. Thinking about the Trailblazer’s size and position in the lineup, it probably shares the exact same platform, and likely powertrains, as the Buick Encore GX. But details on the platform and powertrains for both remain unidentified.
2021 Chevy Trailblazer Off-road
I expect I’m a bit dissatisfied that GM isn’t yet competing in the off-road SUV space. The Jeep Wrangler has been offering like insane over the last decade, and Ford is bringing the Bronco back. All of us hoped GM would make the Blazer a legit off-road competitor, but then it appeared as just a costly crossover. And I guess I figured the * Trail * blazer could be the savior that made up for that blunder, bring the rugged terrain-conquering hardware we all desire however don’t in fact use. But alas, here’s another crossover.
Anyway, the car– which will strike dealers in early 2020– looks fine, and who knows, perhaps GM is working on an off-road vehicle. Plus, as far as nameplates go, the last-generation Trailblazer wasn’t exactly an off-road monster, either, though it did feature a pretty amazing inline-six engine. So I should most likely cut this new SUV some slack.
2021 Chevy Trailblazer Sale and Price
The Trailblazer will go on sale early next year. Prices will probably move in between the Trax’s roughly $22,000 cost and the Equinox’s $24,995 base price. Chevy likewise notes that it will include basic automated emergency situation braking with pedestrian detection and lane-keep assist. A rear-camera mirror and adaptive cruise control will be offered as alternatives.
